How to join and borrow
Joining the library
All members of the public are welcome to freely access and use facilities in any of the three library branches. Library membership, which enables people to borrow material and access online services, is available to residents in the Queanbeyan-Palerang region. Visit one of the library branches with proof of your name and current, local address, such as a driver’s licence, rates notice, rent receipt or official letter. A library card will be issued and you can begin accessing library services immediately. Children under 16 need a parent or guardian with them in order to join. Parents or guardians need to provide proof of address as above and a document such as a Medicare card linking them to the child.
If you wish to join online, you can fill out a form here. You can then visit your local branch with your identification to collect your card.
For people not residing permanently in the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council area or the surrounding region, a temporary library card can be issued. Temporary borrowers may borrow up to six items. The loan period for all items is two weeks. Temporary membership will be reviewed after two months.
Items can be renewed in person at any library branch; by telephone (02 6285 6255) with your library card number; or online (which requires your password - date of birth ddmmyyyy). Most items can be renewed up to three times with the exception of DVDs and toys which can be renewed twice, and HSC material which cannot be renewed. If an item has been reserved it cannot be renewed.
