Mayor John Bull 1888-1889

James BullJohn Bull was born 21 August 1838 Liverpool NSW.


  • He married Mary Ann Gale at Goulburn in 1860. She died in 1871.
  • Married Annie Chesterton at Goulburn in 1872
  • In 1877 he purchased 100 acres of land from the Hon. Charles Campbell, which included the building known as ‘The Oaks’
  • In the same year John Bull established part of this land as a wool washing works and fell mongery.
  • He was one of nine alderman elected to the first Queanbeyan town council in April 1885.
  • He was the second mayor of Queanbeyan in 1888
  • He died at Queanbeyan in 1901.
