Mayor Nathan Moses Lazarus 1891-1892

Nathan Lazarus Nathan Moses Lazarus was born in London, England in 1823

He trained as a cabinet maker at Jew’s Hospital Miles End London
He arrived in Queanbeyan in 1840s
In 1856, he married widow, Harriett Grogan at Queanbeyan and had ten children.
In 1860 he donated a Sundial to the town of Queanbeyan which is now located outside the Queanbeyan Tourist and information centre.
He established himself as a carpenter and storekeeper and undertaker
He was Mayor of Queanbeyan in 1891.
He died in June 1901.
He is buried in the Jewish section of Tharwa Road cemetery
