Nathan Moses Lazarus was born in London, England in 1823
- He trained as a cabinet maker at Jew’s Hospital Miles End London
- He arrived in Queanbeyan in 1840s
- In 1856, he married widow, Harriett Grogan at Queanbeyan and had ten children.
- In 1860 he donated a Sundial to the town of Queanbeyan which is now located outside the Queanbeyan Tourist and information centre.
- He established himself as a carpenter and storekeeper and undertaker
- He was Mayor of Queanbeyan in 1891.
- He died in June 1901.
- He is buried in the Jewish section of Tharwa Road cemetery
